Mark & Jenn lived in Africa ministering and feeding orphans and vulnerable children. When they moved there, the Africans welcomed them with open arms and made them feel so welcome. When the Bettingers moved back to the US, they just want to return the favor. They know what it's like to live 9000 miles away from friends and family.

We are passionate about helping all of the international students from the 42 nations on campus feel welcome. We often partner with AIS (the Association of International Students http://castle.eiu.edu/~eiuais/) for monthly events we call "Last Fridays." Why do we call them Last Fridays? Well, now you know when we meet. We host these events in the Great Hall of Pemberton Hall each month at 8pm.

What can you expect? Food, culture and fun! We invite different international student groups on campus (Africa, India, Latin America, China etc) to share with us about their culture with a presentation, song, dance or anything they choose. Chi Alpha pays for the ingredients and we have the students cook an awesome ethnic meal for everyone. It's a free event and there are often games with prizes and fun had by all.
